A tribute to our heroes from long ago. Written years ago but still one of my favorites
Well once again, it's that time of the year,
just a day off work, an excuse to drink beer.
But not to the families of the brave men who swore,
they’d defend this great land if we entered the war.

Defending our home from the bush to the beach,
and protecting our rights to a freedom of speech.
I feel for the men who fought, for another man's cause,
when it wasn't them who were starting the wars.

I feel for the men, who did not have a say,
they wrote with blood and tears to their families each day.
Describing the chaos and all the destruction,
growing tired and weary still they followed instruction.

Days, months and years the war tested their will,
even in dark times they pushed forward still.
At times it seemed that there was no way out,
then one of our warriors would stand up and shout.

If it's a fight that they want then let me just say,
we'll give 'em a fight the Australian way.
What happened next is no mystery,
they fought their way through history.

It's for all these reasons, as sure as the sun sets,
that we will remember, lest we forget.
My hand on my heart, here as I stand,
I remember this country’s sons, that defended her land.
