A person feels they no longer can feel after they lose a love one.
Carol wonders if it is true. Her mother felt she had lost her soul and had drowned herself in the lake.
Why did she feel that way and why didn't anyone know she was here alone, and depressed. They all lived in the same house up on the point. Carol felt something was very wrong with the story she had been told and she was determined to find out what it was.
