Dedicated for my single mom friend and her daughter.
From Abi (Color of the World)
Jego Carlo Ramos
[Free Verse]

I
Here I sit near the window,
As I paint the color of the world,
The canvas is covered in black
With red, dark green, and no gold.
II
Kind of reminds me of myself,
When I was laying out cold,
When I was taken for a fool,
The night I cursed my soul.
III
We're living in a mad world,
And it's wrong to make it right.
I made my share of mistakes
And more than paid the price.
IV
But right now, I'll add a little yellow,
For my biggest mistake,
That brought the greatest gift of my life,
My daughter, my angel of mercy.
V
When I look into her eyes,
I see another world.
When I look into her eyes,
I see a different life.
VI
I made my share of mistakes,
But she's not one of them,
So here's the color blue
and I'll add white in there too.
VII
Now I'll fill it up with gold,
Because when I look into her eyes
I see a cruel world,
Yet undeniably beautiful.
