For my beloved daughter Elana who was taken from us last year on June 3rd 2013. She was 20
She, so random
Yet with such intent
She looked into my eyes
She, so wrong yet
So perfect and content
She saw through my disguise
An infant with the deepest gaze
Seeing through the veil like haze
To pierce my very soul
She, a beauty
Exotic almost wild
And just the same she grew
She, so musical
The unpredictable child
As if she always knew
A curious seeker of everything
Never to master anything
As if this was her goal
She, such passion
Love confusion hate
I tried to understand
She so vacant
This unspoken fate
I tried to hold her hand
Short lived the fires of her heart
Barely able to make a start
She left behind this hole
Me, so empty
Missing my very center
Missing a part of me
Me, so hollow
Nothing seems to enter
Not since losing she . . .
