The stress of living in a city
Quick paced;
Shoving past angry strangers.
So many in a hurry to nowhere.
Splendid brick, glass and marble buildings line
this circus.
Beautiful architecture in rotted display just around the corner.
Tumble weeds of chip bags and wrappers scatter and bend through fences.
Keep your head down and keep moving
lest a hand asks for more than you can give.
Traffic like cattle herds slowly from intersection to intersection.
Blinking lights and honking horns.
Sirens scream ahead;
another junkies last day.
Sad tiny eyes and dirty little faces at the bus depot
crawl through your mind with anguish;
wishing you could do more but you hurry on.
Quick paces;
you shove past strangers.
