Poe, Dickinson, Cummings, & Hughes
Ever felt so lonely, that your head begins to spin?
Your somber, daily thoughts hidden behind a grin.
The writers of the past, are nothing like today.
No medicine or doctor could take the pain away.

Poe’s telltale words expressed his day-to-day life
As he dealt with the passing of his young, beloved wife
Dickinson never married, she died a lonely soul
The death of both parents, took a severe toll

Cummings vulgar ideas, raised eyebrows all around
Some considered him brilliant, others labeled him a clown
Hughes broke barriers for colored folk, ones with hope and desire
The inspiration for them all, it spread like wildfire.

So if you’re ever doubtful of exactly what to do
Don’t be ashamed or scared, we all have struggles too.
Seek out help or write it down, don’t end it on your own
It’s okay to feel lost, just know you’re not alone.
