A desperate man is trapped in a hospital who doctors think he's crazy. Flash Fiction 498
"Please, l promise not to tell anyone. "I heard myself sob. "Please let me go," as the words stumbled out of my mouth.

"Is he secured nurse, I believe he's waking up."

I heard voices through the fog in my head.

"Yes Doctor, he's not going anywhere."

I looked down and found my hands strapped to the arms of a padded chair.

"Mr. Welks, please stay calm. That is your name isn't it, Thomas Welks?"

Squinting ahead revealed a man seated wearing a suit and holding a clipboard. Next to him standing was a very attractive woman wearing a white uniform.

“Where am I?“ My tongue dry and sticking to the roof of my mouth, “who are you?”

“You're safe Mr Welks, my name is Dr Rigen and this is nurse Bradley, you’re in a hospital. You have us quite worried. Last night you were banging on our doors in hysteria, yelling and screaming that the hounds of hell were after you. We had to restrain you and give you a strong sedative.”

I tested the straps and tried to get free but it was useless.

“Listen to me, I'm a private investigator and I live in Morgan City. They call it the city of shadows and they control everything,
living with us, blending in. They’re everywhere, in public office, running diners, they could be riding beside you on the bus. It’s all a deception, the monsters.”

The Doctor adjusted his glasses, “Well people can be dangerous to society but to say they’re monsters is a bit rash.”

“No, real monsters like vampires, witches, and werewolves.

The Doctor wrote something on his clipboard, “I see. We looked for any records of you and can't find any. Are you registered to any health institutions in your area? “

I started looking around for doors or windows, some way to escape. How can I get them to believe me.

“I've got evidence, videos and recordings. They're all in my car but they found me out and they came after me. I just made it over the city limits when those things, the hell hounds slammed into my car and made me crash. “

I let out a big sigh, “You must believe me.”

Is all the evidence in your vehicle Mr Welks? Asked the nurse.

“Yes! All of it! “

“We're going to let you go so please stay calm. I'm not going to discount what you said, we just want to help. Miss Bradley would you be so kind as to unfastened Mr Welks. “

“Yes Doctor”, she said with a smile.

Miss Bradley advanced towards me smooth, graceful and slipped behind me, placing her hands on my shoulders. I felt her breath near my ear, “We’re here to take care of you Thomas.”

"What's the name of this place again?" I said.

"You're at Brimson Asylum Mr Welks."

"Wait a minute, that's in Morgan City."

Suddenly, realization fell upon me, as sharp and painful as her fangs sinking into my throat.
