Poem I just wrote.
There's a fire in my heart;
But it's burning me alive.
I can't choke on the smoke;
I can't choose how I die.
It's ember flame eludes my vision,
I can't even enjoy the sight.
I'm no bird, but my feathers are ruffled,
And tied down here I can't take flight.

Your touch consumes me, though I haven't felt it yet.
My skin tingles at your sight.
I could easily be your pet.
I write it down on paper,
But why can't I say the words?
My lips no longer work.
My voice has been choked out.
