1st Place - Traditions Poetry Contest - Round 7
Oh, Spring! In the winter of life,
Bittersweet, each angelic day,
Absent the spirit of my wife,
Her blest soul long stolen away.

Awestruck, as a cardinal sings,
Oh, Spring! In the winter of life,
Your album holds such wondrous things,
To distract from time's thrusting knife.

When young I knew the angst of strife,
I've since felt it's deforming bite,
Oh, Spring! In the winter of life,
I welcome more your early light.

Send your comfortable embrace,
For with grief, my last days are rife,
Let sunshine smooth my wrinkled face,
Oh, Spring! In the winter of life.
