Nature's Will

The breeze blows a carpet
of lavenders and purples
drooping from different heights,
like the wind itself
zapped their very life force.

Each single flower flutters
as the last crisp, chill in the
night air caresses the branches.

In the distance an
owl
calls its' mate home,
as the clouds roll in
across the opaque sky,
covering the
waxing moon.

Clashing of thunder
sends streams of rain
sharp as
icepicks,
fracturing the fragile petals.

With the last flashes
of lightning receding,
rays of sun peek over
the evergreens, finally
warming the earth from
the night's fierce storm.

The purples and lavenders
now a shade or two paler,
hang a bit closer to
the ground, worn and
haggard from withstanding
the darkest hours, only with
the pure will to survive.
