What it was like growing up with undiagnosed ADHD
I didn't stop, I didn't sleep,
My need to learn, to know,
Outweighs Mum's exhaustion,
Nine library books a week aged four.

Obsessions, books, puzzles,
Rubik's Cube, solved,
Maths to explore,
New equations!

Lord of the Rings at Eleven,
New music experiences.
Personal designation change!
Quiet... withdrawn...

A child is who they are,
Not an issue,
But a person.
Not to be ridiculed,

Left out, laughed at,
Isolated, rejected.
A split mind, so full of wonder,
Yet, so lonely.

Not able to say,
I don't know why,
I'm not like you!
