A poem about somebody who you can trust.
My best friend

To me, the world is nothing but somber.
Nobody cares, I can depend on nary a lover.
Sometimes, I lose hope, and I want but for life to be calmer.
But then, I talk to one person and my troubles are over.

That one person in your life,
who will make it all seem worth it,
make all your troubles seem but trife.
That one person to whom all your secrets you permit.

That person is my best friend,
That person is like a sister to me, born of another mother.
When would others have me believe I'm but a means to an end,
she makes me smile yet another.

If not for her, many a time I would've lost hope,
she's like a shining ray of light that brightens up my days,
that keeps me going up the slope.
That helps me power through what we call life, that never-ending haze.
