Rhyming description of my appreciation for God's gift of my military service.
Salute to My God-Given Life

Twelve springs ago, my heart I followed,
To Basic I went, my pride I swallowed.
To learn to step and to salute,
To stand and sit and polish a boot.

Seven states I went and overseas too.
Gave all my love to the red, white, and blue.
Many long nights I couldn't believe
All He had done, all He'd achieved.

God gave me a life, more full than I'd asked.
And all I had done was to Him hold steadfast.
God loves us all more than we'll ever know.
He is our Father and can't wait till we're home.
