When the darkness clouds over everything.
The demons will take over; the day turning black
the most vivid of nightmares will come to life.
-
All that is heard is a silent scream in the middle of the night
she wakes up to an empty, shallow grave
staring down into a vat full of the nothingness she felt yesterday.
As it fills her soul, sucks away at her life;
that impossible truth.
-
Few will understand the immensity;
the undeniable extent of what will happen;
the knives that cut away at us from the inside.
-
She glances down at all the cracks in her skin
gathering some hope that they will disappear;
that the day will never come again.
More cracks through the darkness, the fog entrapping it
shattering every dismal display of sunlight.
-
She cowers under her blankets, drowning out all the fears
escaping through some unrealistic view of what could be;
of some fantasy life she's been cursed not to have.
-
She's just looking for some explanation;
the reasoning behind everything that happens.
She has been handed the golden ticket; torn to shreds.
Giving it everything she has to put it back together.
-
But those demons always seem to find their way back; unannounced.
