Feeling despair.
Solid steel on all four sides,
Shiver, cold; feels like ice.
No doors nor windows let in light,
Perfect cage; locked up tight.

Heavy air, hard to breathe,
Exacerbating raging grief.
Fight, fight, struggling fight,
Walls won't budge -
Such a helpless sight.

Flash comes one, then two, then three;
Escaped are years of memories.
Long contained in dreams of hope,
Here they come with a hang man's rope.

Mercy, faith, they turn away,
Tears glistening across their face.
Left alone, the demons play -
Trapped inside this steely cage.
