Malignant silence maims the tepid air .. (Form: Blank Verse) A Dark Dreamscapes Entry
Ere The Night Falls

** Image ID #2092030 Unavailable **

Malignant silence maims the tepid air.
The artificial construct of a clock
is meaningless to all but mortal man
who in subservience must ever toil.

Oh fickle time! Thy soft tread on cat's feet
has stolen past without a trace of sound.
Thy silent passage marked, by gentle wake,
that's noticed only in the turning stars.

The day is done. Now comes the final night
perchance with dreams of everlasting joy;
the days of burden lifted from my back
no longer seem enticing as before.

Your eloquence speaks of infinitude,
this passage but a tear within the sea.
A stagnant pause, yet to the mortal mind,
this moment's all that is and all that was.

The travel on your path, though often fraught
with moments neither man nor god foresaw,
still thrills the seekers soul that lies within;
I'm loathe to rest and end this odyssey.

The sun now fades beyond the far off plane;
its final rays touch lightly on my face,
a butterfly's caress, a farewell kiss,
false promise all is well ere the night falls.
