Some days, I can't help but feel this is where we are headed as a nation.
They gave it to my grandmother

She had no teeth

They had to apply dentures first

Ironically, with dental gum.

She sleeps beneath a bed of flowers now

They gave it to my best friend's little brother

He was nine

Sepsis didn't affect his teeth

So they administered as to any child

His ashes sit on my best friend's mantelpiece

The first time I saw it was on TV, a criminal report

He was on death row

They gave him his last meal, and for dessert

The gum

They intended it for mothers, I later found

Synthetic abortion,

Birthed in a lab, kept off the press

The first dead woman paved the way

"Sometimes accidents bring about good," the inventor said

That's how all this began

A painless,

Easy,

Humane,

Correct

Society

Under control
