A short poem about a loved one's last words.
The Fight Is Not Over

August 2016 "The Challenge Pick up a book, newspaper, magazine (whatever) and turn to the first page. Write a poem using the last line as your opening line. Last line taken from :
'OUR WAR:' MEET THE WESTERN FIGHTERS BATTLING ISIS WITH SYRIA'S KURDS BY JACK MOORE ON 8/30/16 AT 7:34 AM Newsweek

“The fight,” he says, “is not over.”
Those were his last words to me.
I don’t know what he meant.
As last spoken words, those
Are something to be remembered.
But their meaning is lost.
Is he referring to his fight with
Cancer? Because he then quit.
Is he talking about my fight
To be okay with his loss?
Because I never will be.
Is he talking about our fight…
The fight we had on our last
Day together? I pray not.
Because that one is over.
All is forgiven, Baby. Come
Back to me. I love you.
