You have to guess about whom my poem is written (Hint: I'm a fat, old man in Shreveport)
There once was a fat, old man from Shreveport
who, through his poetry, stories would tell.
By his four published books, fame he did court.
Alas, he found poetry books don’t sell.

There once was a fat, old man from Shreveport
who dabbled at writing novels in prose.
His six published stories were all quite short,
so fans of epic reads turned up their nose.

There once was a fat, old man from Shreveport
who did not let lack of fortune and fame
abort his writing, I’m pleased to report.
Any writer giving up is a shame.

There once was a fat, old man from Shreveport
whose creative mind daily does transport
him to wondrous places where he can cavort
with amazing characters just for sport.

There once was a fat, old man from Shreveport
who has these words of support to writers
of any sort: “Keep writing!” I exhort.
“Keep a creative heart and stay fighters.”

(Poetic format: end-rhyming, 10-syllable lines)
