The woes of a character aware of the fourth wall
(quick notes: this is my first poem ever on this site, please don't hold back constructive criticism, but please be mindful of the formatting and any flaws in it. Please also keep in mind that this poem is meant to be read at a fast paced rhythm.)

The Written Man

Help me! Save me! If anyone can hear.
Trapped upon a piece of paper, forever is what I fear.
They tell me that I'm safe, and that everything's alright.
That I should forget the truth, and revel in their delight's.
They say that I depress them, and make them very sad.
So they locked me away, without delay, because they say; I'M MAD!
I know you can hear me, I know you're there, I know you understand.
So help me! Save me! Please, just lend a hand.
Let me off the paper, off the page, and return to my sweet homeland.
