 Snow Angels  (E)
A contest entry for no dialogue contest. An account of me carrying newspapers in a storm.

24 lines

It was the Blizzard of 1994
My family helped me roll the papers
They would see me out the door
Off to do my daily capers.

In due time I would return
Prepared to go another round
Twenty hours per day my candle would burn
It nearly put me in the ground.

22 inches of snow had fallen
It was more than we had seen in years
Every few minutes my boss was callin'
I worked hard and not for the cheers.

The power was out everywhere
To many I was their lifeline to the world
I carried newspapers everywhere
Many grateful for the news I hurled.

Hardship always spurs me on
It makes me want to give my best
Whether t-shirt or coat I don
I will face every test.

People mean a lot to me
Contrary to popular opinion right now
Like snow angels I set them free
Ending suffering is my vow.
