Short and Sweet

The Perfect Morning


It feels I've stood here hours watching the water,

Waiting to see the last breath.

Finally it comes,

Bubbles race to the surface and I know it nearly time.

I watch the struggle, the tossing and turning

Spinning clockwise now counter-

There in front of me.

Soon I'll pull him out,

But it won't end there, not yet.

I'll take a knife, crack open his head

Enjoy what I've been craving all morning

The most perfectly boiled egg.
