The respect and honor gained to have been my father's son.

A Man Among Men

Dad cast a long shadow wherever he'd walk.
People would listen whenever he would talk.
This gentleman who gave love from his heart.
To all his friends or a stranger from the start.

He assumed the best in each person he met.
Loving thoughts filled his mind without regret.
Any better man to this day I have yet to meet.
My dad taught me honesty never any deceit.

This man among men I am proud I can say.
Spoke of God and to Him he'd always pray.
I was blessed to have known him fifty years.
His back was weak but he never shed a tear.

The father of ten was this man among men.
I'm proud to have been the oldest son of ten.
God called him home one night in his sleep.
He now lives in heaven his soul God keeps.

I assumed responsibilities as the oldest son.
But, his big shoes can't be filled by anyone.
Bravery he displayed at Normandy, France.
My dad was a hero God gave him a chance.

Dad was a poor man but he had much love.
When we needed help he'd ask God above.
For His love and care whenever He prayed.
More dad prayed more love came our way.
