How do you live with unmet desires, wants, and wishes?
What do you do when you want more,
but it isn't time to open that door,
or cross that threshold?
Do you keep it all locked up inside,
put your heart on hold,
mask your feelings; force them to hide?

What do you do when you want more,
but all you can do is stand at the shore,
wanting the ocean to wash over you
yet fearing you will drown?
Do you let the waves crash into you,
hold your breath and drift down?

What do you do when you want more,
but the want is wearing you to your core,
leaving emptiness in its wake?
Do you patch the holes and move on,
live a life that's half-awake,
stagger around with blinders on?

What do you do when you want more,
but the struggle has left you sore
as you strain to stand in one spot?
Do you grow bitter as years pass by,
let your heart become an impenetrable knot,
filled with a silent cry?

What do you do when you want more,
desire seeping from every pore,
growing stronger everyday?
Do you let the fire consume you
till your soul peels and burns away,
no love remaining inside you?

What do you do when you want more?
