The Catchers of Echoes

Under the silvery full moon of August
Our violins play, but you watchers all flee.
Our music cascades into streamlets of moondust
But your hearts are of granite and sadly don’t see.

Homeless, you call us, and throw it like curses,
But we stand before you, deep in our roles.
The Earth is our dwelling, the music our verses.
We flow with the winds, and thus open our souls.

We are the story tellers, ears to the ground,
Soaking up flavors to play for your pleasure.
Give us a moment. Listen to the sound
Of the tales that we spin to amuse you in leisure.

For where else can you find such spinners of yarns?
We're the new Grimm’s Brothers, the collectors of old
Sifting and drifting, we travelers of barns,
Garnering Beowolfs, and ballads untold.

You hand us your soup bowls with a lecture and sermon,
Rejecting our offerings of songs and of tales,
Casting us off like street-garbaged vermin,
Even throwing us into your cemented jails.

But we are not jobless, or homeless, or pitied.
When you see us don't call for the police or the guards,
We are your minstrels, composing the witty.
We are the Catchers of Echoes: your dreamers and bards.
