I still think of my sweet mountain girl.

Sweet Mountain Girl

Sweet mountain girl did you know?
I cried when we parted years ago.
Your love I wanted was not to be.
You chose another forgot about me.

My poor heart was broken over you.
You was my first I thought you knew?
Called me to say you were pregnant,
Said you loved me would I accept it?

All though my love for you was true,
What did you really expect me to do?
I couldn't forgive you for what you did.
In my heart I was no more than a kid.

I think why you gave yourself to him,
You loved me it should not have been.
Maybe if I'd been a more macho man.
The baby was mine and not part of him.

I treated and respected you as a lady.
On a pedestal like an innocent baby,
Sweet mountain girl I won't forget you.
My first love you broke my heart into.
