a poem featuring Death.
“Bring back my love”

Bring back my love.
Each moment, an eternity,
anticipating the day of
our reunion.
My spirit aches for him;
I cannot exist
without him by my side.
I implore thee, Sweet Death:
Bring him back to me.

Death replies silently;
“Wait,” his voiceless calm emits.
Eternal laws bind him,
and my pleas, futile.

Powerless,
I linger in agony.
My soul cries out for him,
but I try to be
patient.
Our time will come.

Death’s cold hand brushes
his pale cheek.
Passively, I remain;
Poised to reunite with my
Everlasting Love.
Taken from him long ago,
he was patient
and waited.

His time has come, at last.
The Angel’s kind hand
embraces his flesh,
and brings him back to me.
I rejoice in the splendor of Death.
