A poem about the southwest and Apaches

"Tumbleweed"

The tumbleweed dances all around.
Coyotes are howling outside of town.
The desert winds blow dusty and dry.
An eagle soars in the Arizona sky.

The land where Cochise ran so wild,
Sad ground that the white men defiled,
The war cries of a warrior silenced,
All lost in rage, hatred and violence,

What's left is the sand and the wind.
An Apache culture should have been,
Phantom warriors in rocky canyons,
Red riders of wild mustang stallions,

Listen closely for the distant drums.
A mirage in the heat of the desert sun,
An Indian warrior and a wild steed,
Apache phantoms in the tumbleweed!
