When two sentient beings connect in a special way, we call it affection.
Affection

The closest distance
Between two points,

A personified string of yarn
Woven between two souls
Across time and space.

An invisible line
Filters and funnels
Emotional snapshots through
A mesmerizing tunnel,
Gravitational, an anti-magnetic
Scent stays to shun others away,
But fits here like a lock and key.

The most special ingredient
Of homemade peach ice cream
Is when on a sunny afternoon,
That first part melts
To make a line of
Ever faster drips
On your fingers, then
On your shirt, and arm;
You lick the sticky sweetness off your skin,
And it isn't the peach part.

That special stuffed animal you knew as a kid,
The feeling of the texture of the fuzzy bear's skin;
Not like real fur, but soft to the touch--
Against your cheek, in your hands,
In your arms, in your clutch,
Connected like an amiable charging battery.

A mystical bill of fare,
Seen through a gypsy's crystal ball,
Bracelets bangling their own melody,
Making up the lyrics
As you go along,
Refreshingly
Fresh, then
Intimately shared
In belief and hope:
A mutual admiration society
Filled with yellow roses
In yesterdays and tomorrows.
