A piece about mental illness, the reactions of those who are not willing to understand.
Asleep behind the wheel
A cacophony of noise
Eternally deprived of peace
Lost in a maze of dead-end emotion
Solace sought but never found

An invisible affliction
Desperately Aenigmatic
Grasping for the wind, fighting for control
The serpent of thoughts bites its tail
A fight it cannot win

Frustration screams inside my veins
In blood, emotions spill
Sleep eludes me but not pain
A dream kept under veil.
A mind bound in chains

Drug-induced mind control
a cloud of numbing fog
Gives my sentence a small reprieve
But the Governor is out of town

Therapists preach solutions
Pinpricks of advice
Of an illness taught, not shared
They sleep well at night
