A Rondeau poem for the Endless Night Poetry Contest.
Shrill echoes from the crypt reverberate
across the haunted plain, as ghouls debate
the plot in Satan’s script, with dark disdain
for those desiring that they would refrain
from such tumultuous displays of hate.

The ghastly scene will soon precipitate
much more than common folks can tolerate,
while that sound wave of misery and pain
still echoes from the crypt.

Miasmic vapors billow forth in spate
as ancient blasphemies predominate,
until the mausolean hate campaign
explodes beyond the gates of their terrain,
and mankind’s cries for mercy will create
shrill echoes from the crypt.
