Sands of Time

Sparkling, tumbling from my hand
Winking in the sunlight, mocking me
It slips through my dismayed fingers
No matter how tightly I cup my hands
How I try to squeeze and save, it slips
Shifting tiny granules falling away
From my grasp to rejoin the universe.
