everyone has demons...
The Demon laughed like the eerie blood chilling sound of banshee cries echoing within her mind. She hated this Demon but couldn't rid herself of Its shrouding blackness within her despairing heart. It knew she wasn't strong enough to overcome Its powerful hold on her.

Valiantly, she tried to break free. She tried hiding behind different masks: Good student, ambitious worker, faithful lover, loving daughter and loyal friend. Yet It always seemed to break through them every night and leave her frail being exposed to Its silent torture.

It spoke to her sometimes. It's seductive voice penetrating her weak defenses.

“You are no good, “ It would say.

“Nobody loves you. Nobody but me.You don't deserve anyone but me.”

Silently, the tears burned down her cheeks. It couldn't possibly be true, but as days turned into weeks the little insignificant things began to fester in her mind. Finally, she withdrew herself into the oppressive black wings of the Demon's embrace.

The newly bloodied knife slipped from her numbing hand as her life trickled from her veins, pooling around her dying body. She felt herself pulled from her body, shedding the last of her former existence. The Demon laughed.
