Thinking about past relationships,

From inside my eggshell existence,
Looking about, surveying surroundings,
Wave shreds and fallen pieces of relationships,
Discarded from overuse,
From needing so much.

A line from a CSNY song asks,
"You expect for me to love you
When you hate yourself, my friend?"
So how can I ask him to understand me,
When I rarely understand myself?

To believe our passion is enough
To tie a bind between us;
Having no idea how seldom
We share an aura, or even a peaceful moment.

I don't mean deception in matters of the heart,
The intense awareness, we share but a spark.
I don't know what you're thinking
And from relationships, I often am shrinking.
