in a Trois-par-Huit poem
Hummingbirds
mock the power of words,
as poets try and try to transpose

the beauty of a bird flitting before a rose
to the page, but cannot capture what God bestows.

No matter how hard he strives to trace,
no artist can encase
Nature’s grace.
