A vampiric take on the Longest Day |
Candles fill the room, encircling an open space in the center. A Nosferatu enters, dragging a mortal in by the mortal’s hair. A Daeva stands just on the edge of the open center. The Nosferatu bears his fangs at the mortal, (Monsterous Countenance), threatening the mortal who immediately flees towards the Daeva. The Daeva catches the mortal, calming them, and begins to dance with them, circling them around the space. They circle and end in the center of the room, the Daeva behind the mortal, wherein she sinks her fangs into the mortal’s neck from behind. The Nosferatu, meanwhile, slinks into the shadows. The following is then recited by the ritual master: “In Summer’s heat, our time is short, hidden away we must remain. Our natures masked, our mortal facades maintained, to strengthen our place in the Night. Kindred we are, the beast beneath our skin, Mortals our food, but also our mask. Civility, society, we hide within, Honor humanity our summer’s task, to strengthen ourselves for the Night. Monster within, civil without, a sacred union to bring peace, fertile lands, bountiful harvests, the marriage of opposition, prosperity and stability to follow.” Blood wine is then poured and shared between the attendees. |
