A poem about a rare event in my life in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Rare Snowfall in Shreveport (25 February 2015)

My Linda and I just returned inside
from walking in the briskly falling snow.
Gigantic snowflakes an inch and half wide
floated down, a beautiful sight to bestow.

Some two inches deep accumulated,
this is a rare event for south Shreveport.
The trees and ground now illuminated
white invited us come outside to cavort.

The last time we had a snowfall this deep
was fifteen years back; we had our Corgi,
Rusty, who played outside all day. We keep
that memory dear; it brings a hearty

smile that will always warm us to the core.
Such memories as then and today should
be treasured because I might have no more.
Aged seventy, I could go to sleep for good

and never see such a snowfall again.
Memories like today’s are precious then.
