Too many of my friends have passed through a foolish choice, this is inspired by them all.
Two lads sat at home,
Plastered after a night on the piss,
Their only wish,
Was cheesy chips,
But to walk to the chippy,
Was a bit of a mish!
So they slouch down on the couch,
Each of them has a can in their hand,
They're gonna try n hatch a plan,
To go get served at the burger van.

They're both young 'n' naive,
And thus they truly believe,
That by driving through the backstreets,
They can sneak past the police to fetch their treats!
Intuition led them into the car,
Where one turned the ignition,
Signalling the beginnin' of the mission,
That'd end up with both these lads,
No longer livin.

They pull out of the drive,
Using only fog lights to keep outta sight,
'Coz of all things,
Drivers fear is bein’ slapped with a fine!
Passenger wraps up a spliff,
Sparks it,
Starts up a puff pass,
Driver wont drive fast while smokin grass,
He tokes then as smoke clears,
He sees police drive past.

Nows the time for Pedal to the metal,
He puts his foot down to the floor,
No second thoughts,
They know the score,
Gotta break the law,
The engine roars,
As they detour,
Through country lanes,
On a winters night,
When visibility is poor.

Drivers drivin like a maniac,
Findin it hard to face the fact,
That PC plod on his back,
They should'a never embarked on this task in a fiat!
He takes the corner to quick,
Then screws up with his gear shift,
Before they know it,
They’re in mid flip,
All of this,
Because of cheesy chips!

Now the Sparks are flying,
But these ones ain't the sparks of love,
They're underneath the part of the car,
That they should be above,
The engines gone above their heads,
The bonnets about to crumple around their legs,
Steerin' wheel hits drivers chest,
Desperation in his eyes as he witnesses his death.

Then...
Nothing...
Silence...
Blue lights on the horizon,
But you can't yet hear the siren.
Paramedics arrive with devices,
But they can't find no vitals,
There's no chance of survival,
Driver needs identifyin’ by that tribal...

That tribal tattoo,
That’s upon his left shoulder,
It’s the only bit of him that wasn't hit by the motor,
He wasn't drivin’ sober,
Now his body’s turnin’ colder,
There’s no life left in his eyes,
Because now his life is over!

His poor old mother,
She expelled a scream,
That can't be compared to any other,
When she’d seen her son,
Led under the cover,
Her poor little boy,
All she wants is for him to hug her,
Drivers lookin’ down from heaven,
But he can’t tell his mum he loves her!

And let’s not forget passenger,
He survived the crash,
But now he’s got a catheter,
His life support is powered by a,
Two hundred twenty volt adapter,
Tracheostomy in-situ,
He's got both legs wrapped in plaster!

Yet there’s an absence of cognition,
The doctor tells the parents,
That they must make a decision,
It was such a serious collision,
That none of them can envisage,
This Passenger regainin,
Any quality of livin!

So with tears in their eyes,
And despair within their voice,
They make the choice,
To let passenger join driver in the sky,
Then in both their memories they'll rejoice.

They give him his first ever cuddly toy,
From back when he was a baby boy,
Mum and dad have one last hug,
Then both hold a hand,
As the doctor pulls the plug,
His brother can’t believe it,
In the corridor,
Punchin’ walls,
Screamin’ what the ?!?!

Fast forward a week...
Eleven a.m,
2 ones stood together,
Like roman numerals,
But this is the day,
When family and friends,
Have to attend,
These two boys funerals!

Brothers in arms,
Walk into the church carryin' the coffins,
In their hearts,
They feel the hurt,
Why the hell have their mates,
died for nothin?!

Several touchin' eulogies,
Where tears were flowin' fluently,
Giggles from the lads,
When they're at the wake,
Reminissin' about,
Actin’ truently,
There’s so many memories,
But that’s all that is left is memories,
Every one of them can feel the pain,
For which there is no remedy!

Parents,
Siblings,
Best mates,
And relatives,
Each of them are gonna require sedatives,
To help them sleep and quash their emptiness,
Life is a game,
And death ain't prejudiced!

Now,
They say you gain experience,
Shortly after you could've really used it,
We know It’s already too late for these lads,
Because they've both faced the music,
But your future,
You can still choose it,
And it really ain't that confusing,
All you need it do is not drink n drive,
Then six feet deep,
You won't be snoozing!
Use a bus,
Get a taxi,
Exploit the legs strapped to your waist,
I've already lost to many mates,
Its an absolute waste,
I raise my glass to all of them,
A big shout out to my late best mate Ed Case,
Please,
Learn a lesson,
Don't get behind the wheel,
If you’ve gone and got off of your face...
