I wrote it for a contest but could not enter it for technical reasons.
Love shouldn’t hurt
Love shouldn't hurt
But it did
Again and again.
It hurts so much
That you wonder if it was love.

Ten years
Or twenty
Some passed
Half their life,
In the search for love.

It came as a blow
Or as rape every night.
Still others
Made you feel low.

When you ask
They say
That's part of love.

But love was not suppose to hurt.
But it did and it does.
Making you frightened of love
Frightened of the fluttery feeling
Inside your heart.

You whisper
It's okay; it won't hurt.
