a dark companion but a companion none the less.
here tonight a stranger stands
someone near, someone black
someone with lips moving
someone without speaking
with a face as the dark side of the moon
someone with open ears
a shade to tell woes
take me, said i
man from my Gethsemane
deliver me from this Babylon
hear, man may not
lead me from the form beside me
a dark and lingering thing
ever haunting my lone days
a witch i can not burn
a word i can not speak
a name i do not know
stranger in the dark
i dread you not
your shade shadows me not
beyond your vale i fear not
something silent
something crawling
creeping over me
as a spider to ensnare me
as a fowler to net me
flutter if i could
hide to the trees if i may
in the ruins i love
it whispers it watches
a mirror in a pool
of twisted desires
always hoped for a grander sky
stranger, these things you know
barren me away from these things
dwelling in the dark of mind
know i have wings and will fly
and glare from onhigh
a carrion soul no more
