a children's story
Are you my friend?

Charlie is a small dragon, he is the baby of the family, with two older sisters and two older brothers. The older dragons are always so busy with their friends, they seem to forget about Charlie.

One morning, as everyone was getting ready for their day, poor Charlie just sat there. After all his sisters and brothers left, Charlie wandered around "their" house. He found the cat. He asked the cat, "Are you my friend?"

The cat just looked at him.

He went on to find daddy dragon, and asked him, "Are you my friend?"

"Of course, Charlie," he answered.

He found momma dragon and asked her," Are you my friend?"

She answered," Well yes, honey. Why do you ask?"

Charlie answered, "Everyone has friends and they are" to busy" for me and I don’t have any friends."
.
Momma dragon says "Of course you do. You have your sisters and brothers.

Poor Charlie looks up and says," They are" too busy" for me. They have their own "friends."

Charlie puts his head down and walks away saying, " I don’t have anyone."

Momma dragon makes Charlie a promise and tells Charlie as soon as she gets the chores done, they will go visit friends and you can play with some kids.

Charlie nods yes.

Later in the day, they go to lunch. As momma dragon is having lunch, the kids go and play.

Charlie soon sees a little dragon playing by himself. He walks up and asked him his name. He says shyly, "My name is Stanley."

Charlie asked him if they could play together.

Stanley nods his head yes.

As the play date comes to an end, Momma dragon makes another play date.

Charlie and Stanley get ready to leave; he asked Stanley, “Are you my friend?" "Stanley smiles and says yes."

Charlie and Stanley have many more play dates and soon become best friends.

One day on the way to play Charlie says to momma dragon "thank " you for taking me to play with Stanley. He’s my best "friend."

Momma smiles and gives Charlie a hug.
