"You always said everything happens for a reason."
Her hair shined in the sun, the drifting clouds making shadows flutter over her face. Her eyes were closed. She looked so peaceful as she lay there in his arms. Her head was slightly tilted, resting at his chest. She looked so beautiful, so tranquil, as if there were no evil in this world. Nothing could touch her. He moved a few strands of hair out of her face before leaning down to place a soft kiss on her pale cheek. "You always said everything happens for a reason, sometimes I just wish I knew what that reason was." His voice was breathy, shaking as he spoke. He slumped a little more, his back sliding down the wall, getting just a bit more comfortable. A small smile tugged at his mouth. "Goodnight." He closed his eyes, his head resting at the other wall.

The scene was calm, an oasis of serenity amidst a cold world. If it hadn't been for the blood that pooled around them, one would think they were sleeping.
