2 people and a break up
Moliver
That's what people call us now. Sorry, past self- that's all over now.
Seriously?! Moliver? That sounds like my name is Molly- for the record; it's Megan.
Past me can't hear me, but would I have done anything different? Probably not, I'm sick of being called his good luck charm. I'm a feminist.
Remember, its Oliver and Megan. Not Oliver and Molly, like someone called me yesterday. We are the perfect couple- everyone says so. Been together since year 9 and a year come September, adorbs, right?
We weren't the perfect couple. I can't believe it took me that long to realise.
School was awesome; as usual. We sat together and joked around during lesson times. Then at lunch we joined up with mine and his friends, and joked around. Life's a laugh, right?
No, no, no. It's really not, but we grow to realise this and that is fine.
But guess what happened in the afternoon? Guess? Fine; I'll tell you. In English Literature Mrs Hems, who is 'bout fortysomething, put these pics on the board. As we're doing myths and monsters they were meant to be old settings.
Ha! I remember this- so funny! Brennan is awesomely funny!
Emphasis on "meant" to be old! Well, the first lot were:
Black and white photographs of straw-thatched bungalows and animals out. Also, painted artworks-when there weren't any cameras, of dirty bare places and rich mansions. Yet, wait for it. . .
At the end there was a coloured photo of a house and a modern-day road in the background! And it was very clean, with an Audi A6 next to it!!! HOW IS THAT AN OLDEN PHOTO??? So, Brennan asked Mrs Hems how it was from the past and did the past places really look like that? Technically, it was a rhetorical question followed by a statement, but it was really funny.
It was awesome! Negatively, though as this was last lesson our breakup was just after this?! Also, when we laugh our eyes water!!!
Then we all agreed in a way of laughing that Brennan was SO right!! However, Mrs Hens was SO-O-O-O convinced that it was from the past! Fortunately, this was so funny, unfortunately it only lasted for a moment.
DRING-ING-ING-ING!!!!!
There's the bell; signalling home time!!
After that the lesson passed so excruciatingly painfully that I and the rest of the class was SO-O-O glad that it ended.
I collected my bags and went to meet Oliver by the school gates. We had arranged to go and wander around town that afternoon. After saying by to Savannah and responding in a responsible way to the idiots who thought it sensible to call me Molly, I went to meet Oliver. I walked over, cool but confident. . .
Oh, oh. We've just got to the part when we saw Oliver flirting with Anatas. BTW Anatas is short for Anastasia. I remember it hurting then; not so much anymore, though.
OMG! Oliver is flirting with Anatas. OMG! Anatas is flirting with Oliver. His hand around her waist, her twizzling her hair around her finger. OMG! OMG! OMG! They haven't seen me yet. I should've gone and interrupted them, but I wanted to see how far they'd go. She threw her hands around him; he pulled her closer and they kissed.
Luck be a lady!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE THEY'D DO THAT!
Yes, if we are honest with ourselves we can. He is a slimeball.
I walked calmly away and thought; I wasn't going to look the fool! As I walked away I thought about everything we'd been through and how much we'd been in love. Or I thought we were in love anyway.
Now, though, a year later I'm over it. I hung out with my friends and, if I daresay, become a role-model to others in my position. I didn't mope. I dumped him through text explaining exactly why I dumped him. No, though, I realise there is no such thing as "Luck be a lady" or "Luck be a man" there are perils everybody must suffer in a relationship. I was strong and I helped my friends get over their breakups. Besides, luck is a very fickle thing.
Life goes on. And as some believe, and I agree, Dukkha:
Life means suffering.
However, don't forget, they are moments of pure bliss when life is really worth all the perils we suffer.
