Dreaming about flying

I had a dream that I could fly
Above the highest hill
and all I'd need to touch the sky
is heart and strength of will.

I gazed upon the tree-lined rows
of poplar and the pine,
my eyes would linger on the grapes
that ripen on the vine.

From soaring heights I'd then behold
the oceans sparkling blue
and marvel at such wondrous sights
that passed within my view.

I'd fly to places I've not seen,
the ones you dream about
and take my time when I got there,
not worry on the route.

Now down beneath the noonday sun
where butterflies are free,
such little time's for sitting still,
so much is left to see.

So time goes on and moons will rise
and rain is always rain
but now I know just how it feels
above this earthly chain.
