For my autistic son
*Puzzle2* *Puzzle1* *Puzzle4* *Puzzle3*

He ordered his toys by color and size on the floor
And like Einstein, he didn’t utter words till four.
Doctors probed and couldn’t gauge what he wouldn’t show;
They weighed what they misunderstood and called him slow.

At twelve his interest was constitutional law,
But teachers tested and claimed he read with flaw.
At school he couldn’t learn in traditional flow;
They weighed what they misunderstood and called him slow.

He could recite every episode of Star Trek,
Taught himself C++, and could build his own Mac,
Yet he struggled in class and IQ scores were low;
They weighed what they misunderstood and called him slow.

His speech was rushed and when ignored his voice was numb,
Then when sounds would overwhelm he would tap and hum.
Children thought he was odd and friends were very few;
They feared what was different and clung to what they knew.

His thoughts were expressed bluntly and words always true;
When people were annoyed he didn’t take a clue.
He was ignored in conversations he would pursue;
They feared what was different and clung to what they knew.

He could explain the Patriot Act in complete,
Yet with job applications, he met with defeat.
They glanced at his scribbles and their assumptions grew;
They feared what was different and clung to what they knew.

Now he’s eighteen and thrives beyond what they foretold;
He gains profit from computers he’s built and sold.
Soon he’ll build for businesses and profit will grow
From those who once misunderstood and called him slow.

The complex autistic mind is God’s grand design,
Evolved beyond the human norms' assembly line.
Their minds are filled with knowledge and creative flow;
People fear the different and cling to what they know.
