Regarding the struggle between helping others and getting hurt.
I open my eyes for the first time
A blank slate for the world to shape
I invite everyone in
So that I may learn from them
I do not discriminate
For everyone seems so loving

Slowly I grow up
I learn to understand more than just myself
See that not all people are kind and caring
There is darkness within some hearts
I must learn to fight the darkness
To bring more light into this world

Every day is a test
Of my will to help the light
Why should you help someone else
When you can barely help yourself
Little do they know that
Helping others really helps me

If everyone loved one another
We would not see the violence and hate
Our world would be so bright
Imagine what we could accomplish
If everyone worked together
To make our world a better place
