For the Cramp about starting an exercise regime. Who knew you could write a poem about it?
Exercise, oh exercise!
It is you that I despise!
With your calls for sweat and tears
I just want to run in fear!
But doctors say you are the best
For my heart, you’re heaven sent!
How I wish that this were true—
(Again I’ll state that I hate you!)
But I’ll go and do this deed
Doctor’s orders I will take heed.
In every task I will partake
But expectation is not great
I’ll run a mile around the block
Lift some weight and muscles shock
In the ocean I’ll swim the waves
(For you, my heart, I will engage!)
When will I garner great success
This exertion does cause me stress--
But alas—hey wait, what's this?
Slim are my thighs—is this amiss?
From my waist are gone the pounds
Flat and firm, no longer round!
My step is strong, my gait is light
My frame is free of excess blight
Could it be that I was wrong?
And greatest wonder: my heartbeat’s strong!
I walk now with head held high
With great success I’m filled with pride
Exercise, you are my friend--
Many thanks to you I send.
