...and that's how I told her my version of love.
Sometimes, the sun shines brighter than usual.

Glorious morning winds blew across that beautiful field he described to her. She smiled, her shoulders slowly pushing against his in that moment when love felt like too much to hold inside. Side by side in the horizontal plane of reality they watched the sun-drenched clouds making way for the morning. A tear in the fabric of calm made him shudder, his breath caught in his throat just feeling good being near her.

The field of gold boasted a herd of horses, spelling the word freedom with the beating hooves and snorting nostrils, neighs and swishing tails completing their prophecy of being unchained. He told her of birds, feathers of crimson and bright black, drawing patterns of ecstasy in a sky of blue oceans. The stars hid behind the pale blue above that gorgeous field he described, but she could just feel the constellations, the hidden promises and confessions he weaved into his words, making her believe in truths she denied half her life. Then came the ripples in the field as he blew a soft, caressing wind across the field of his construction, making him itch to reach out and hold her hand, the hand that was brushing by his right, but the hesitancy was strong, knowing that she would pull away.

The night was long enough to be memorable, short enough to keep thirsting for another few hours of dawn and anticipation. He told her about the oceans of deep, dark and romantic philosophy, full of life and ominously silent. Mhmm, she agreed, as he promised to take her to see for herself that other world within their world. Her eyes absorbed the beauty of the sky as the sun rose to lay claim upon the overhead domain, but for the life of him, he could not untangle the knot of possibilities her eyes presented to him. He didn't care anymore, the oceans he described absorbing him into the deep blue romance, an embrace of a million moments in one.

The ground beneath them was hard, their clothes being the only barrier between the concrete of reality and their beating hearts. The confusion that entangled him was growing tighter the closer he got to her, his words now exposing more bone than the way his eyes lingered on her when he saw her. This confusion was the only barrier between his golden field, oceans blue, and finally gardens bright with colors alight, and him holding her hand. She was especially glad of the garden, the way his voice painted a picture of flowers in spring bloom, awash with a breeze of love and compassion, the ground beneath their stalks a luscious brown and black of sustenance. She dreamt of pushing her toes into the dirt, to feel the embrace of nature and growth, the way he made magic that seeped into every nook and cranny of her elaborately wired mind.

The way her fingers teased his with every explanation she gave him to the questions he didn't mean to ask her made him crave for more. Of course, he answered when she asked him if he was going to promise her the world, a chuckle that escaped her lips hiding her true reaction. There was no hesitation, no second thoughts, a devotion he fashioned that was as earnest as the peak of a mountain capped in snow, unrelenting and against all odds. His head turned towards her, his beaming smile trying with every fibre of his being to light up her face just so that he can see her more clearly, just a little bit more, for just a little longer. Watching the bright orange sky now under the benevolent reign of the morning sun, she smiled too, knowing full well the wave of love that just emanated from him and rolled over her in a tidal wave of epic proportions.

They flew now, wings borne from trust and mutual desire for a freedom prophesized earlier. He sculpted a terrain of sharp and beautiful edges, canyons and cliffs, hills and wells, mountains and plains. This was another world of discovery, and she drank in every color he spoke of. Closer became their bond, an imagination of myriad of possibilities as one and one alone, as he asked her if she'd go with him, a flight across his mind of eternal sunshine, why not, she replied, eyes glistening in the harsh sun. Their bodies were forever warm within the vicinity of each other, yet the morning sun raised that mercury a little too much to bear.

Later, they aired another promise. He wished for another hour, another minute, or even just that extra second to decipher their magic, but a new day had begun, and life beckoned them. The glorious morning winds would blow again across that beautiful field he described to her, and mayhap she'd snuggle in closer the next time. All he had was hope, all he needed was a sign. And signs were aplenty today, hope in abundance. Of course, need he mention,

Sometimes, the sun shines brighter than usual.
