A poem about a wise man and his views on life.
Wise Man

The wise man sits in the corner

Of a bar on New Year’s Eve

Absorbing his surroundings

Watching the young and naive

They dream of valor

They dream of fame

He sees their future

Doesn’t see the same

He sees hardship

He sees their dreams

Crushing though

They schemed and schemed

To make things perfect

A true fairy tale

But while their dreams don’t come true

They don’t completely fail

He knows of a power

From deep within

The hardest part is to find it

Kindness, courage, faith and trust

Altogether bind it

They don’t know that they need it

They don’t it’s effects

They don’t know that it could lead to

Their ultimate success

It gives you strength

To work through

The hardest parts of life

It gives you hope

You feel it’s light

It get’s you through your times of strife

And while it’s not perfect

Not perfect at all

Neither is life

A wise man sits in the corner

Of a bar on New Year’s Eve

Absorbing his surroundings

Watching the young and naive

He sees the youth as immature

But they just need a little shove

So they can see that what they really need

Is love
