What I remember of the life of my friend Stephen, the best of old friends, found anew. |

These stories of Stephen are set in the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's, with the epilogue containing what I know of him today. Stephen, "call me Steve," he'd say, always tackled the world as a positive challenge to his creativity, an opportunity, then came his fame and fortune later on. He has always been a questioner, a self-imposed philosopher--trying to live life to its fullest, in its best purpose. I admire him for that. You may not agree with what he thinks, but it's evident he does think, rather than just traveling down another's worn path. He was identified by the adults in his life, at quite a young age, as one with a singular wit and personal charm. He had eloquent talents in artistic and literary matters. He was able to learn music quite intensively, as there was a piano in the home area when he was growing into manhood. The family stayed above their restaurant, from whence came the family income. It always smelled good there. Food always smells good, doesn't it? The family of two boys and a girl, grew up with "divorced" parents living in the same abode. It was a middle class type of family situation, though working class might actualy describe the family's situation better. Everybody had to work to make ends meet. All in all, Steven's life has been interesting to date. I feel he's in for some more heat in the kitchen, so to speak, since what happened recently. . . But, I get ahead of myself. This set of stories is about the coming to age of a British chap, a friend and associate of mine. (Stephen, if you catch this, drop me an e-mail, okay old mate?) If the reader happens to identify who "Stephen" actually is, please e-mail me that information. I need to more about derivative copyrights. I'd appreciate some info on that too, if anyone knows of good written info to read through. Any copyright permission pending, regaring Stephen's story. Most of his story is documentable on the Internet, or you can read my version here, as it evolves, or grows, with time. |
